Communication Skills Training

May 5, 2010 - Stanneke Kusters, a social psychologist from The Netherlands, gave a one-week training for our employees (teachers, counselors, and management staff) on communication skills. The goals of the training are to improve communication among staff, increase feeling of responsibility towards the children, increase self initiative. Stanneke expects that the training will bring positive results such as improved team working and communication skills, employees being good example for the children, employees able to work preventively by following safety protocols, and employees feeling more responsible for the wellbeing of the children.
The trainees really enjoyed this short training as it was designed to be a full interactive training with many roleplaying, problem-solving, and debate. Dian, the secretary of Peduli Anak, said that she learned a lot about giving feedback and making effective communication. "If the trainees really apply what they have learned from the training, they can have good team work and there will be no miscommunication among the divisions in the organizations," added Dian.
Being asked about her impression on short volunteering for Peduli Anak, Stanneke said Peduli Anak is a well organized organization. "It's good to be surrounded by people who want to make a difference," admitted the psychologist who is also a yoga teacher. She wished that the trainees reap the benefits of this short training and were able to apply it in their daily work.
