School Makeover
30 July 2010 - It's been almost two weeks since Peduli Anak Primary School was officially open. Children and teachers were so happy to occupy the newly furnished school. However, as soon as the the learning process started, we realized that there are so many things we need to improve. With the help from Melanie Lo, an experienced teacher from The Netherlands, our school is now undergoing major makeover. We buy new textbooks, school supplies, and even redecorate our classrooms. Melanie also helps to refine our school management by reformatting class and school rules, improving school environment, helping teachers to create better interactions with students, and giving on-the-spot advice to teachers. Melanie was amazed by our effort to run the school despite academic and operational barriers. Peduli Anak has more than 70 children who are all in thirst for knowledge. If we have to wait until we have a perfect school with all its facilities and top-of-the-class educators, we will never start a school. We also realize that school could offer a safe place for our children who had difficult times on the streets or at home. Therefore, this is the right time for us to have our own school. We will always keep you updated with the progress of Peduli Anak Primary School. Within just few days of Melanie's voluntary work here, we could see some important changes. At the moment, Melanie and our school team are working on redecorating the classrooms and setting up a library. Can't wait to see the new look next week!
